Rows of solar panels on their mounting structure under a hazy sky.

Solar Panel Structure

Structural design and simulation of a solar panel mounting structure for real-world wind loads. The design became the basis for the structure built near the port of Karachi.

Designed for the wind

We computed the wind load to the ASCE 7-16 standard, with location-specific parameters such as average wind speed, height and gust factor.

We modelled the structure in SolidWorks, simulated it in ANSYS and compared the results with the standard to check the design’s reliability. The final design was the basis for the actual structure, built near Karachi’s sea port.

Built on site

The steel frames went up over a row of curved roofs, then the panels were mounted on them in rows.
