The device

EKKO asked us to develop the housings and handheld wands for its speech-therapy product. This case study covers the product-design and manufacturing work, rather than clinical effectiveness.

EKKO asked us for the clinical version of their flagship product, and we took it from design to manufacturing. Each design choice had to hold up from a logical and an ergonomic point of view, for the therapist and for the child.

Clinic V1

The first clinical version sets an angled screen on a low base, between two docked wands.

Clinic V2

When EKKO asked for an additional version of the Clinic, we turned it around quickly. V2 brings the screen, two buttons and both wand docks into one rounded body, with the ports at the back.

EKKO Wand

The wand carries the vibration. A motor sits in a bumper inside the curved housing, and a front cover holds the frequency transfer probe that passes the vibration on.

The handle is shaped for a comfortable grip, the parts go together easily, and every part is optimised for FDM printing.
