Render of the SOS button: an orange press button marked Rapid Labs on a grey and orange cylindrical casing.

Wi-Fi SOS Button

A battery-powered panic button that sends an alert to a guardian’s phone over Wi-Fi. We designed the modular casing, the electronics and the firmware, and printed the first working prototype.

One press, one alert

Press the button and its WEMOS D1 Mini (ESP8266) sends an alert message over Wi-Fi to the phones of the people looking after the user.

Made to last on a battery

Between presses the board sleeps (deep sleep) to stretch the battery, and a battery management system lets the button charge and run at the same time.

A modular casing

The casing stacks in layers around the electronics, so it’s easy to open and change. We 3D printed the parts for the first functional prototype.
